Girls High School Flag Football - Spring 2026

Rivalries Rise. Legends Begin! is a Commonwealth Youth Development Group (CYDG) High School Flag Football League that provides a competitive, fast‑paced, and inclusive environment where athletes grow, form lasting connections, and expand opportunities—including pathways to college scholarship. CYDG is a non-for-profit organization that operates FXBG Flag rec and Travel Flag Football programs and is a partner with Fredericksburg Parks and Rec.

Program Goals

Develop Athletic Skills: Players learn essential football techniques—passing, catching, route running, defensive coverage, and strategic play—adapted for a non‑contact format.
Promote Leadership & Confidence: Athletes take on roles that build communication, decision‑making, and resilience.
Encourage Healthy Competition: Teams compete in a structured season featuring regular‑season games, standings, and a postseason championship.
Elevate and Grow the Sport: Elevate and expand girls flag football across the Commonwealth while laying the groundwork for its adoption as an approved high school sport in the surrounding school districts.

League Structure

Eligibility: Open to high school girls in grades 9–12.
Cost: The total cost is not expected to exceed $100 per player. You will receive a separate email with payment details once team rosters are finalized. We are committed to keeping costs low and are actively seeking sponsors to help support the league. Season Format: Preseason clinics, 4 week (8 game) regular season, and a post season tournament. Games on Sunday afternoon
Regular season: 4/12 to 5/3
Post Season: 5/10
Team Composition: 7‑on‑7 format. 12 to 15 players per team. Teams formed based on the high school they attend.
Coaching: Certified coaches emphasize fundamentals, safety, and character development. **volunteer coach opportunities***

Flag football is a non‑contact sport, making it accessible to athletes of all experience levels. The league prioritizes injury prevention and positive sportsmanship.
